A handmade cuckoo clock in the traditional Black Forest chalet style with a handmade shingled roof and hand carved St. Bernard. The soils of Germany have been used for growing grapes and producing wine for 2,000 years and is an important part of the lands history. This viticulture history which involves the Black Forest region is reflected in the hand carved vines crawling up the chalet wall. The little Cuckoo door opens, the Cuckoo Bird looks out and the wooden beer drinker slams his mug on the table in time with the cuckoo call which occurs once on the hour and full hour according to the time. The water wheel turns and the figurines wearing traditional black forest clothes dance around to the music from the mechanically driven music box. There are two alternating melodies (Edelweiss and Happy Wanderer) which play every half hour. The clock comes with a certificate of authenticity.
